Visa Options for Victims of Crime

VAWA Self Petition: This allows immigrant in abusive relationships with a U.S citizen or permanent resident spouse, parent, or child to apply for legal status in the United States without relying on the abusive that U.S.citizen or legal permanent resident spouses, parents or children to sponsor their Adjustment of Status (Form I-485) applications.

U Visa: For victims of crimes of violence caused by a permanent resident or U.S. Citizen. Only specific crimes of violence qualify under the statute. The victim can adjust status and become a permanent resident.

T-Visa: For Victims of severe forms of trafficking. The Victim must work with law enforcement and prove that he/she would face extreme hardship upon removal. The victim can adjust status and become a permanent resident.

S Visa: For people who share critical reliable information about criminal or terrorist organizations with the U.S, or  people trained by the U.S. Maximum stay of 3 years and cannot adjust status.
